These are some very neat ideas. Last year I crocheted a pumpkin patch for the grand kids. Their parents loved them because they could touch them, play with them and if dropped didn't go smush. This year, for myself, I am going to paint them and then the day before Halloween I will carve it so I can put a candle in it. If I carve it when I first set it out, it won't look so good by the actual day.
