Imagine your garden filled with happy birds, flocking around the recycled bird feeder you just made and chirping with joy! And they’ll also be a huge help with keeping those nasty garden pests under control."

Why You'll Love This Gardening Craft

1. Create a Sustainable Garden: By repurposing plastic bottles into bird feeders, you are helping to reduce waste and promote sustainability in your garden. This eco-friendly craft project not only gives those plastic bottles a new life, but also provides a safe space for birds to feed, helping to support local wildlife and contribute to the health of your garden ecosystem.

2. Engage with Nature: Building a plastic bottle bird feeder is a wonderful way to connect with nature and observe the beauty of the birds that visit your garden. It allows you and your family to enjoy the sights and sounds of different bird species up close, fostering a sense of appreciation and wonder for the natural world around you. It's a great way to teach children about the importance of caring for the environment and the creatures that share our planet.

3. Pest Control: Having birds visit your garden can help with pest control by eating insects that may harm your plants. By providing a source of food for birds with a DIY bird feeder, you are encouraging them to stick around and help keep those pesky garden pests at bay. This natural form of pest control is not only effective, but also chemical-free, making it a safe and sustainable solution for maintaining a healthy garden. Overall, making a plastic bottle bird feeder is a fun and rewarding way to attract birds to your garden, promote sustainability, and enjoy the benefits of natural pest control.

I can see this little apple feeders in the trees now. Instead of throwing out those plastic bottles our little feathered friends can have a nice place to get a little snack.

Wouldn't this also be a great bird home? Depending on the size of the bottle this could easily be a bird home with an smaller bottle adjacent being a bird feeder. Shucks have a whole community in the back yard if you like.

This is a great idea. My grand kids and I made a bunch last summer. One pair of birds turned it into a nest so we got to watch baby birds being hatched. I learned that squirrels love the food too so I replaced the rope with 30 pound fishing line. It held the birds just fine but the squirrels couldn't get down it.
