I have never heard of hand crochet. I have some chunky yarn in a beautiful blue color that would make a lovely blanket. Now that the weather has cooled off, I am going to study up on this technique. I hope it's doable, so I can start making this blanket.

Okay, I definitely didn't know you could hand crochet. I learned how to arm knit a few months ago, so perhaps this is the next step because this looks like the one afghan I could actually finish in a year... without quitting 1/16th of the way through.

This Hand Crochet Chunky Blanket video is great! What a nice idea when you are on the road and don't have your hooks. It's also a great way to teach younger children who say teach me to crochet.. I like the idea of using the chunky yarn to make a thick warm blanket. Now I want to try other stitches using finger crochet, wow, my mind is racing on what to do next. Thanks for this free how to that Is a must learn and teach technique. I tried arm knitting and didn't care for it, it was to hard to put down and start again, but hand crochet so easy and I can put it down and come back to it later.. Cool!! Thank you for sharing this free crochet pattern.

Just one of the best things about arm or hand crochet is how quickly the project goes. But even better than that is how fabulously chunky, cuddly and so awesomely COSY the finished item is, lol! This blanket just makes me want to be under it on the sofa, perhaps for the entire winter, lol!

I have tried finger knitting and actually made a bracelet. It took me two tries to get it right. Boy it was fast. I imagine if I had even chunkier yarn and used this technique here I could finish this blanket fast! It is a little different feeling to not use a hook, and it might seem odd at first. It wasn't my favorite thing to do, but I was impressed with the finished project. You need TWELVE skeins of yarn for this, though. $$

This is an awesome idea! I recently learned how to arm knit, and now I'm anxious to try hand crochet, as well. I can't believe this is a 1 hour project!
