Thanksgiving Burlap Place Setting

Thanksgiving Burlap Place Setting

While the turkey, stuffing, and potatoes are important on Thanksgiving, decorate the table with this Thanksgiving Burlap Place Setting. This free painting pattern makes for a fun Thanksgiving craft for both adults and kids. You do not need much more than basic painting supplies and a burlap mat for this fall craft project. This Thanksgiving place mat and napkin ring have a fall theme with acorns and leaves without going overboard on the design, so you can use them throughout the autumn months as place settings. Use stunning free Thanksgiving craft project tutorials to decorate your Thanksgiving tablescape on a budget while still impressing your guests!

Materials:

  • Americana Multi-Surface Acrylics: Dark Scarlet, Pumpkin Patch, Turf Green, Iris, Cocoa Bean
  • Water container
  • Palette or plastic plate
  • Paper towels
  • Scissors
  • #8 flat brush
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • #6 round brush
  • Con-Tact® and regular paper
  • Black permanent marker
  • Cosmetic sponge
  • Pencil
  • Burlap placemat
  • Napkin ring
  • Craft knife
     

Instructions:

  1. Using a #6 round brush and Cocoa Bean, paint a wavy line on the right side of the placemat. (Refer to the pattern if needed.)




     
  2. Trace the acorn pattern onto Con-Tact® paper and cut out to make a stencil. Using a cosmetic sponge, dab on Pumpkin Patch, Dark Scarlet, Turf Green, and Iris. (Refer to photo for color placement.)




     
  3. Trace the acorn top pattern and leaves onto Con-Tact® paper and cut out to make stencils. Using a cosmetic sponge, dab Cocoa Bean into the acorn top and leaf stencils. (Refer to photo for placement.)




     
  4. Use a cosmetic sponge to dab on two coats of Cocoa Bean to the napkin rings.




     
  5. Cut thin strips of burlap (approx 3/4" long). Using a #8 flat brush, paint a stripe along the middle of each strip in either Dark Scarlet, Pumpkin Patch, Iris, or Turf Green. Loop around the napkin ring and adhere with a hot glue gun.
