Stripe Floor Pillow Cover

Knit a cute, striped cover for a floor pillow to match the decor in your room, from Authentic Knitting Board.

Stripe Floor Pillow Cover

Size: Approximate size 22” X 22”
Stitches: Stockinette Stitch (standard spacing) and Open Rib Stitch
 

Materials:

  • 28" Knitting Board
  • Yarn: Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Worsted 85% Wool / 15% Mohair (1) Skein of each color yarn used. 4 Color Stripes of Tan, Rust, Orange, Green. Choose colors to match your décor.

Instructions:

  1. Knit (2).
  2. Cast On 68 stitches in Tan. Knit in Stockinette Stitch for 8 rows. Cut yarn.
  3. Tie in color Rust. Knit in Stockinette Stitch for 8 rows. Cut yarn.
  4. Tie in color Orange. Knit in Stockinette for 4 rows. Cut yarn.
  5. Tie in color Green. Knit 2 rows. Cut yarn.
  6. Tie in color Rust. Change to open rib stitch. Transfer stitches on one side for Open Rib
  7. Stitch. Knit 8 rows in Open Rib. Cut yarn.
  8. Tie in Color Tan. Knit in Stockinette stitch for 4 rows. Cut yarn.
  9. Tie in color Orange. Knit in Stockinette for 8 rows. Cut yarn.
  10. Tie in color Green. Knit in Stockinette for 2 rows. Cut yarn.
  11. Tie in color Tan. Knit in Stockinette for 6 rows. Cut yarn.
  12. Tie in color Rust. Change to Open Rib. Transfer Stitches on same side for Open Rib.
  13. Knit 8 rows in Open Rib. Cut yarn.
  14. Tie in color Orange. Knit in Stockinette for 4 rows. Cut yarn.
  15. Tie in color Green. Knit in Stockinette for 4 rows. Cut yarn.
  16. Tie in color Tan. Knit in Stockinette for 8 rows. Cut yarn.
  17. Bind off loosely.
  18. This is one side of your pillow. Knit the 2nd side to match.
  19. Sewing it together:
  20. Sew side seams matching the color stripes. The open rib sides should be to the outside for the greater contrast of pattern. Sew each with matching yarn.
  21. Sew one solid color edge for pillow bottom with matching yarn.
  22. Insert pillow. Sew top of pillow cover.
  23. If desired, you can make tassels for the corners of the cover with strands of all the colors of yarn used in pillow. This makes a great gift for the home.
