From the blogger: "Make a unique piece of art for your home using just old magazines and junk mail. It's easy to create something completely individual and matching any color scheme that you like. Our artwork is yellow to match our hallway, and there are even images hidden to represent the interests of each member of the family. By upcycling an old picture frame too this art cost us nothing at all; what a bonus!"

Materials List

  • Old picture frame
  • Old magazines and junk mail
  • Scissors
  • Pencil and ruler
  • Paper glue

  1. Remove any existing image from the picture frame. Ideally turn it over and create your new art on the back. If the back is not suitable, then cut a piece of plain paper to fit.

  2. Select pages from old magazines and junk mail in the colors you want

  3. Cut the magazine pages into two-inch squares

  4. Lay the squares out on your paper in a pleasing arrangement.

  5. Stick the squares down

  6. Replace the glass in the frame and hang your new artwork.
