Have you ever really priced those Velcro straps in the store? The prices are a little steep for me. I have found that the dollar stores sells rolls of Velcro and it may not be the top of the line brand but here is the opportunity to make Velcro straps for a lot less than what you would pay for them already made.

I love those little organizer Velcro straps. I never thought about making my own. I typically use them to secure items that do not get a lot of use like the computer cords and things I am putting away like extension cords. The use of these DIY brand Velcro will save me a few dollars in the long run.
