Instructions:
- Prewash cotton fabric before dyeing.
- Prepare dye as directed in washing machine. Place prewashed fabric in machine. Dry in dryer.
- Enlarge pattern to desired size. Place on dyed fabric and cut out two stocking sides. Using sewing machine, sew stocking together (with right sides together), leaving opening at the top. Turn stocking right side out.
- Cut a fabric strip approximately 5” x 17” (for the fringed top).
- Place the fabric strip inside stocking opening, align the two edges together and stitch a ½” seam. Flip over the inside strip to create the top.
- Make small cuts about ½” wide on the stocking flap and rip to create tattered fringes. Use iron to press stocking.
- Using white transfer paper with pattern on top, trace pattern with pencil onto both sides of stocking.
- Place cardstock or paper towels inside layers of stocking to prevent paint from seeping through to the other side.
- Paint a base of Glacier White into design shapes to create a base which will intensify colors against the blue background. Let dry. Refer to photo and paint in designs with various colors of choice. Let dry.
- Position doilies on the heel and on top of the fringes. Squeeze some Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion® to the backs of doilies and let sit for 5 minutes for it to become tacky, then attach doilies to stocking. Let sit until dry and then cut off excess.
- Add Tulip® glitter spray over stocking for added shimmer. Let dry.
