Fall Ripple Afghan

Materials:

  • 3 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Tea Leaf
  • 2 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Cornmeal
  • 2 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Pumpkin
  • 5.0 mm (US H-8) crochet hook or size needed for gauge

Gauge:  rows – 3”; 1 Ripple – 4 ¼”

Special Stitches: 

  • V Stitch (V St) – (dc, ch 1, dc) as indicated in instructions.
  • Dc Decrease (dc dec) – holding back last loop of each stitch on hook, dc in next ch or stitch, skip next ch or stitch, dc in next ch or stitch, yo, pull through all loops on hook.

Fall Ripple Afghan

Instructions:
Throw Measures:   44” x 58”

  1. Row 1 (RS): With tea leaf ch 144, dc in 4th ch from hook, *dc in each of next 5 chs, dc dec, dc in each of next 5 chs**, V St in next ch, repeat from * across ending last repeat at**, 2 dcs in last ch, turn.
     
  2. Row 2: Ch 3, dc in same stitch, *dc in each of next 5 dcs, dc dec, dc in each of next 5 dcs**, V St in ch 1 space of V St, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 2 dcs in last dc, fasten off and turn.
     
  3. Row 3: Join cornmeal with a slip stitch in first dc, ch 2, dc in same stitch, continue with Row 2, fasten off and turn.
     
  4. Row 4: Join pumpkin with a slip stitch in first dc, ch 2, dc in same stitch, *[skip 1 dc, dc in next dc] 2 times, ch 1, skip 1 dc, dc dec, [ch 1, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc] 2 times, skip 1 dc,  ch 1**, V St in ch 1 space of V St, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 2 dcs in last dc, fasten off and turn.
     
  5. Row 5: Join tea leaf with a slip stitch in first dc, ch 2, dc in same stitch, *1 dc in each of next 5 stitches, dc dec, 1 dc in each of next 5 stitches**, V St in ch 1 space of V St, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 2 dcs in last dc, turn.
     
  6. Row 6: Repeat Row 2, fasten off and turn.

Color Scheme

  1. Continue pattern for a total of 74 rows as follows:  (2 rows tea leaf, 1 row cornmeal, 1 row pumpkin) 18 times, 2 rows tea leaf

Edging

  1. With tea leaf and wrong side facing work along right side edge start at bottom, sc in first dc, [ch 3, sc in next dc] across and fasten off.
     
  2. Work along left side edge start at top, sc in first dc, [ch 3, sc in next dc] across and fasten off.
