Day of the Dead Wedding Guest Book Alternative Wall Art

From the Designer: "Create a wedding keepsake that is unique as you are! This alternative to a wedding guest book is perfect for a Day of the Dead themed event. The colorful sugar skulls create a dramatic and beautiful focal point while the chalk paint background provides plenty of space for signatures and well wishes from your wedding guests. You can create this project in just a few hours using svg files for your electronic die cutting machine and a combination of paint, specialty vinyl and foiled paper."

Instructions

  1. Paint a 15" x 30" board with black chalk paint.

  2. Using electronic die cutting machine and purchased sugar skull svg files cut vinyl elements in desired colors.

  3. Use transfer tape to apply vinyl sugar skull shapes onto the chalk board. Continue to add vinyl elements using transfer tape until done.

  4. Run pieces of Rinea Foiled Papers through Xyron machine to apply adhesive to the back. Do not remove the release paper from the bottom, but do remove the clear plastic sheet from on top.

  5. Use electronic die cutting machine to cut shapes from foiled papers. (Rose, heart, lips, gold flourishes.)

  6. Using low-tack transfer tape (or some you have been using for a while) lift the die cut foiled elements from the release paper and apply to the sugar skulls.

  7. Using the small flower die from the Spring Things Sizzix die set, cut red and blue foiled paper. Run through Xyron X sticker maker and apply to the inside of the sugar skull eyes. Apply rhinestones to center of eyes.

  8. Cut and apply gold metallic vinyl lettering using electronic die cutting machine and transfer tape.

  9. Using electronic die cutting machine cut a border of dots. Use transfer tape to apply to top and bottom of chalk board.

  10. Provide Extra Fine Point Bistro Chalk Markers for guests to use for signing.

NotesThe Bistro Chalk Markers come in a bunch of colors so I think it would be fun to have a whole rainbow for the wedding guests to choose from!
NOTE: These markers are not permanent and will wipe off with a damp cloth, so after the big day I recommend spraying with an acrylic sealer to preserve those memories forever!
