This came out so well, took a lot of time to figure out how to turn and make the handles. If anyone needs help you can email me.

Do not understand where to pick up the 30 stitches for the handles. Do you seam the sides first? Thanks.

I have found the answer to my first question. Now I am struggling with the instruction for row -- Cluster 2tog made in 2nd row with large needles.

I am struggling with the 6yh row ending with 72 stitches. The pattern doesn't mention increasing in the preceeding stitches. Beginning with 24 stitiches and ending with 72 stitches with the following instruction (k1,P1.K1) in next stitch Is there an instruction missing. Thank you, Paulette

The instructions for the 6th row in increasing from 24 to 72 stitches is the following: when they mention: K1,P1,K1 in next stitch is that you do exactly as they say: knit 1 stitch (do not remove from left needle), purl the same stitch and knit again the same stitch - this will add 2 additional stitches. Once you done this for the 24 stitches, you would have tripled the total amount of stitches. Hope you understand what I am explaining. Let me know.

6th row: (RS). *(K1. P1. K1) in next st. Rep from * to end of row. 72 sts. I am confused as to how this row starts out with 24 stitches and ends with 72. I must be missing something as there is no instruction to increase?

Help! I figured out the pattern, but am totally lost regarding the handles. Pick up and knit along the side? I tried that, and it didn't look right.

I'm no expert, but my understanding of the directions is that on Row 4 when it says Cluster 2tog, it means to repeat the sequence of K2tog (not slipping the stitches off), and then knitting into the back of those 2 stitches as on Row 2. This way you aren't decreasing any stitches, and it saved the designer/writer of the pattern from re-writing all that out. Hopefully that helps someone! It took me a minute to figure that out too!

@pampottberg 8451247, Please try highlighting the text, then right-click on it. You'll get a window that gives you the option to "copy." Do that, and then paste the text into a word document. You should be able to save and print the document that way. Or, you can right-click anywhere on the page and select the option "Save page as" and the page will be saved to your computer. --Editor of FaveCrafts

I love the free patterns available, but it is very frustrating when you need help and there is not a direct way to ask a question and receive a reply. I am a fairly new knitter. I have this bag almost completed but do not know how to finish the handles.

Hi, Did wattsmail ever get a response to her question? I too am confused about where to pick up the 30 stitches from. I don't think I have that many on the sides. It is close, but not quite 30. Also, how do you close up the bottom?

I tried to post this WAY earlier but I did receive a rough sketch illustrating exactly how I needed to finish. I have a pdf but don't now how to upload it here. If you are still interested, just e-mail me at wattsmail@yahoo.com and I will sent the pdf. It came out great and I actually made two of them and plan on doing another one soon. Hope this helps!

Help! Made it fine thus far but this has me puzzled: Handles: With RS of work facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 30 sts along side of bag. Cast on 80 sts. 110 sts in total. Knit 6 rows. Cast off knitwise (WS). Rep for other side. Sew sides of each handle. Question: pick up beginning where? Bottom, side, top? How do you join the sides or am I missing something? Any videos out there to illustrate? I love the concept and am almost to the point where I have to do the handles to complete. I have invested too much time to abandon it now. Would appreciate any advice, links to videos, anything!

This looks great! Has anyone completed it? Is it knitted in two separate sections then sewn together. I didn't see in the instructions where it said to join at the seams, etc. Thanks!

If anyone is still stuck on Row 2: 2nd row: Sl1. *K2tog. Do not slip sts off needle. K2togtbl into the same sts. Slip 2 sts off needle Cluster 2tog made. Rep from * to last st. K1 Slip 1st stitch onto right hand needle without working it. *Knit 2 together (through front loops) but leave the 2 stitches on the left hand needle - then Knit the same 2 stitches together (through back loops) - So first you work into the front loops, then the back loops,. Then slip the 2 stitches you just made, off the needle ... this process is what is being referred to as Cluster 2tog made. Now just repeat to the last st, K1

I'll try to help... Row 6 says (k1, p1, k1) in next stitch. Repeat from to end of row. 72 sts. What it means is that you will knit one stitch, purl one stitch and knit one stitch all in the next stitch till the end of the row. For each stitch in the row, you will be knitting 3 stitches into it. Therefore 24x3=72. Hope this helps.

I just learned how to knit and I thought this would be a great small, quick project. But I am confused on the 6th Row (thought I would get farther than this...) I get the st st, but not the Rep from to end of row 72 sts. ?? How am I going to get 72 sts when I only cast on 24??? Am I k1p1k1 in one stitch? Help??
