Scrappy Halloween Bracelet

Materials:

  • 2 satin ribbon pieces, color: light purple, 8 cm long and 2.5 cm wide each.
  • 1 satin ribbon piece, color: orange, 8 cm long and 2.5 cm wide
  • 2 ring-strips of black fabric, 1 inch wide each, cut from an old t-shirt
  • 12 very thin strips of black lace,  length: 16cm each
  • Flower design cut out of a scrap piece of thick lace, color: purple
  • Needle
  • Threads (colors: black, orange, light purple)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions:

  1. Take the two black ring-strips you cut from the old t-shirt and stretch them out so the fabric curls in.  Two long ring-tubes should be formed.

  2. Hold the two long ring-tubes together in your right hand and wrap them around your left hand wrist. Try to keep the seams together if possible, in one place (or two nearby places).

  3. First, make sure the ring-tubes are evenly wrapped around your wrist.  Then, slide them off your hand carefully, while holding all of them together.

  4. Now, wrap the orange satin ribbon piece around the tubes, to cover the seams.  Thread your needle and stitch the satin ribbon to keep it in place –  it has got to be a “hidden” stitch (made in the inside part of your rag bracelet).  Perhaps the orange ribbon will need some adjustment before stitching it.

  5. Follow the same procedure with the other two satin ribbon pieces (the light purple ones). Before wrapping and stitching them, see that the three satin ribbons will be placed in equal distance of each other – mark the spots with a piece of chalk.

  6. Glue the purple flower design onto the orange satin ribbon, wrapping the lacy flower all around the orange base. Wait till the glue dries completely.

  7. When the glue has dried, and after you’ve finished with all the stitching, take the very thin and long strips of black lace to tie around your bracelet, in the intervals between the satin ribbons (use 4 lace strips for each interval). Do this by passing each lace strip  through one of the black fabric tubes. Pull the lace strips to their half length, and make a double knot to secure them in place.

  8. The finishing touch: Use your scissors to make all ends of your black lacy strips pointed.
