Glow in the Dark Evening Bag

Create a Glow in the Dark Evening Bag to carry your things at a Halloween party or festival. Diamond beadlets and netting are used to create this spooky looking handbag. Your friends won't know what's flying around.

Glow in the Dark Evening Bag

Materials:

  • Black envelope-style evening bag
  • Ghost die cut or ghost outline cut from white cardstock
  • #12 Braid 051F, 056F, 053F, 057F, 055F
  • 1-inch Treasure Tape roll
  • Two 8” x 10” Treasure Tape sheets
  • Diamond Beadlets
  • Light blue or white tulle or netting
  • 8 1/2 x 11” white paper

Instructions:

  1. Trace the flap of your purse onto the white paper to make a template. Use this template to cut that exact shape out of one Treasure Tape sheet. Peel off the white backing of the cut tape, and lay on the outside flap of your purse.

  2. Remove the tape’s red liner to expose a sticky surface. Lay the tulle/netting on the taped flap, folding and creasing the fabric lightly. Trim edges flush with purse flap.

  3. Cut another Treasure Tape sheet to fit your flap template and lay directly onto the tulle. Remove the red liner to expose the sticky top.

  4. Lay your ghost image on the front of the flap, pressing so it adheres. Lay strands of #12 Braid around the ghost, pressing the thread into the tape. At this point you can add flat-backed cabochons or sequins if you’d like.

  5. When thread decorating is complete, lay the purse in a shallow pan or tray and cover remaining sticky areas with Diamond Beadlets.
