Upcycled Washi Tape Storage Box

Just in time for Father's Day - save an old cigar box and create a Upcycled Washi Tape Storage Box. Use a variety of decorative materials to customize the box and make it pop. Dad can keep this box on his desk as a sentimental keepsake.

Materials:

  • Old cigar box
  • Mod Podge
  • Decorative papers
  • Washi tape
  • Susan Lenart Kazmer antique license plate pendant
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Silver Rub n' Buff
  • Stamps and sentiments
  • Dictionary page
  • Ranger Distress inks
  • Recollections chip board stickers
  • Watch charm

Instructions:

  1. Panted the edges of the box in black and then Mod Podge coordinating papers onto the box.

  2. Use a different paper for the inside of the lid.

  3. Go around the edges with coordinating washi tape. If you want a vintage 1920’s feel, use a Susan Lenart Kazmer antique license plate pendant.

  4. Painted it with black acrylic paint and then go over it with silver Rub n' Buff.

  5. Stamp an antique car and sentiment (Tim Holtz) onto a torn dictionary page and distress it with Ranger Distress Inks. Mod Podge that onto the lid and add some coordinating chipboard stickers found at Michaels (Recollections). Added a watch charm.
