With the Romance set from the Cute Companions range, you can create a delightful handmade card for this Valentine's Day. Craft a matching card using the Ultimate Crafter's Companion. This present is the perfect treat for the one you love!

Materials:

  • Two 8x8 sheets of red card
  • Two 8x8 sheets of gold card
  • Ultimate or Top Score & Enveloper
  • Cute Companions Romance stamp
  • Red grosgrain ribbon
  • Watercolor pens
  • Gold embossing powder
  • Gold pigment ink pad
  • Black Versafine ink pad
  • PVA glue
  • Extra strong double-sided tape
  • Scissors
  • Craft knife
  • Paper trimmer

Step 1

To make the chocolate box, take one 8x8 sheet of the red card & one 8x8 sheet of the gold and place them onto the box scoring element of the Ultimate (or Top Score). Place the gold card against the box lid side, and score on line four. Place the red card against the box base side, and score, also on line four.

Step 2

Take the box lid and score on all edges again, using lines one and two, for a decorative edge. Trim out a v-shape at the corner points where the first
score lines intersect. The first cut should be on the score line and the diagonal cut should be from the corner square. Repeat this with the box base.

Step 3

With a paper trimmer, cut along each edge along the scored line nearest to the edge. Leave the edge you have cut away behind. Using PVA glue, secure the box corners of both the lidand base. It is helpful to hold the corners in place with pegs while the glue dries to keep the box in shape.

Step 4

Add a strip of red ribbon above the scored line around the edges of the box lid using strong double sided tape. Add a bow across the join in the ribbon and decorate the box lid. Stamp ‘Valentine’ from the set using black Versafine ink onto a small piece of white card and stick it onto a piece of the red card. Stamp some of the hearts onto the red card using gold pigment ink & gold embossing powder. Cut out the hearts and mount all of these elements to the box lid. Line the inside of the box with food grade tissue paper or cellophane before placing your chocolates inside.

Step 5

To make the card, take a piece of gold card measuring 8x4 inches. Place it onto the card scoring side of the Ultimate (or Top Score) and score along the half-fold 8x8 line.

Step 6

Crease the card on the score line and place one half of it shiny side down onto the box scorer.

Add a decorative scored square to the card by scoring all around the card from the back until the four lines meet each other.

Step 7

To decorate the card, stamp the two mice onto white card using Versafine ink. Colour in using watercolour pens or a colouring medium of your choice. Cut them out using a sharp pair of scissors, and a craft knife for the fine points.

Stamp ‘Be Mine’ onto white card and mat onto a piece of red card. Also stamp & emboss some more of the hearts in gold and cut out. Add all of these elements to the front of the card.

Step 8

To make the envelope, cut a square of red card measuring 7x7 inches. Place it onto the envelope making side of the Ultimate (or use the Enveloper) and score line D on all four edges.

Step 9

Crease the scored lines and cut away the small triangle at the intersection points at the corners. Glue the two sides in, then the bottom edge up to complete the envelope.

Finally, add a matching element to the envelope by scoring a heart on the top flap, using the heart embossing shape next to the envelope scoring section.
