I made one of these last year and it came out beautifully. It's easy and makes up quickly. But I wanted a little color on my angel so I did the body in red and the bodice in gold. I also added a gold halo. I may make an all white one and add glitter to the bodice and a row of small Pearl beads around the bottom edge of her skirt.

I know my grandma made these four her church bazaar when I was just a little girl, but hers were very stiff...can anyone tell me how to do these beautiful angels and what is done to give them that stiff feel?

AnglicMom I Googled "stiffening for crochet" and got almost 3,000 hits. Lots of different ways to stiffen your crochet. Good luck on your Angels !! Linda.

Hi there - You can use white glue, epsom salts and sugar water as a thread stiffener. Hope that helps! Thanks - Julia from FaveCrafts

I love these angels. I remember making this way back when my boys were very young, they are now 40, 39 and 36. How come now I'm retired I don't have time to sit down and make them. I'm just going to have to make the effort though because they are so worth it.
