Keeping Your Craft Area Clean When Using Glue

Keeping Your Craft Area Clean When Using Glue

Phone Book Aid by Denise McCall, Columbus, OH

I take an old phone book and remove the front cover and use it as a rest for my glue gun. Then if the glue drips, it's on the paper. Tear off the top sheet and you have a new clean surface to work with. Works great with other messy projects too like mixing glues, testing your brush for stenciling, etc (you get the idea). It's a great way to recycle an old phone book and to keep your crafting center neat and clean.

Cookie Sheet Aid by Laurie J. Leblanc West Columbia, Texas

I use an old cookie sheet to do a lot of my crafting on. You can rest your glue gun on it and  the drips fall on the sheet.  The sheet also keeps the gun from falling off. It catches the glitter, cuttings and also holds the craft nicely in place, especially if it is round.  It won't fall off! When I am done, I just load up my crafting stuff, put it on the cookie sheet and its all there for me the next time I use it. It's also great for painting and doing Mog Podge. Just lay a piece of paper or newsprint down and when your done, throw away the paper!

Mini Glue Gun Rest by Jeanne Meiler Lancaster, NY

I have a mini glue gun that just did not want to stand up when I set it down on the table. I simply took a small piece of scrap styrofaom (2-3 " square by 1/2' deep) and when I set the gun down, pushed the feet into the styrofoam. No more falling over!

Storing Glue Bottles by Sue Oskam Budd Lake, NJ

Cut the top off a 2-liter soda bottle, and store your glue bottle in it to keep the glue in the tip and ready to go.

I learned a long time ago how to NOT ruin my kitchen table while crafting there. I went to Walmart ( when they carried fabric) and bought the wide clear plastic by the yard. I now get it at the local fabric stores. I can keep it on the table and glue, paint or whatever I want and my table stays nice and neat. You just fold it up when you are through, until you need to craft again. It doesn't cost as much as a new table and you would be surprised at what you can do with some sections when you are through useing it on your table
