Recycling Old Bulbs
Instead of throwing away those old burnt out Christmas bulbs, recycle them by creating some pretty cute ornaments. All you need are some burnt out colored bulbs, thin ribbon, and wire hooks used to hang ornaments on the Christmas tree.
- Choose your bulb and your ribbon or wire.
- If you chose ribbon, wrap the ribbon around the metal part of the bulb, making a loop so that you can hand on the tree. You can also hang these on garland that hangs from the mantle.
- If you chose the wire, simply wrap the wire around and twist, leave enough wire to make a hook to hang from the tree.

I make them into ornaments. After coating them with paper mache and adding a small beak, I paint them all white. I then use acrylics and turn them into little penguins....use your imagination, they do look like penguins. I use a small piece of flannel to make a scarf, hot glue a hanger to top, and you have a great ornament. I have phot, but not sure how to paste into comment.

using the bulbs can create a safety hazard if made into rattles because of the broken class which slips out. This is dangerous and should not be used with OR around children. Even with adults and the glass slips out, someone can step on it.

you could make rattles (instruments) for kids with it: glue newspaper all around it in at least 5-10 layers and let dry, then crush inside by hitting it on hard surface. paint decorative with designs and colours, let dry again. Glass splinters will not go through the layers, but rattle nicely ;)
