Reusable Crochet Scrubbies
If you're looking for ways to be a little kinder to the environment, then check out these Reusable Crochet Scrubbies. Instead of using face wash wipes, use some crocheted scrubbies. These little face wash pads can be used over and over again - simply toss them in the washer and dryer once they get dirty. They're a great way to be a little more environmentally friendly. Plus, they're definitely more budget-friendly!
Materials:
- A cotton yarn. I used Bernat Handicraft Cotton.
- Crochet Hook – US H8/5 mm.
- Yarn or tapestry needle
- Scissors
Instructions:
Ch = chain, sl st = slip stitch, sc = single crochet, dc = double crochet (U.S.)
- Ch 5 and then join together into a ring with a sl st. Or use the magic ring method if you prefer.
- Make 8 sc into the ring. Join with sl st.
- Round 1: Ch 1 and then 2 sc into the same stitch. Now do 2 sc in each stitch around and then sl st to join.
- Round 2: Ch 1 and then 1 sc in same st. [2 sc in the next stitch then 1 sc in the next], repeat in each remaining stitches around.
- Round 3: Ch 1 and then 1 sc in same st. [2 sc in the next stitch then 1 sc in the next TWO stitches], repeat this in each remaining stitches around.
- Fasten off and weave the ends into the scrubbie using your yarn/tapestry needle

Woah! What a great idea to make your own scrubbies and I love the idea of putting them in a lovely jar and I love that they can be used over and over again. I can see these used for many things not just face. Just a little yarn and a little patience you can make some too. The directions are easy and unlike some patterns they post what the abbreviations mean.Great way to save a ton of money by making your own.

You see a pattern like this and you think, "why didn't I think of that?" Well I didn't and I am so glad someone did. All you have to buy is some nice cotton yarn and you can make your own facials scrubbies. They are getting expensive so in the long run you save yourself some money. Just wash them like everything else and you are all set. Easy pattern. Will work up quickly. Thank you.

What a cute idea! I like that the pattern is so easy to make, too. These are perfect travel-size accessories.

I also have some made from tulle and scrubby yarn. I use those for kitchen and cleaning my glass too stove and the bathtub. I will have to make some out of cotton or other soft strips of fabric for other purposes, like makeup removal. Especially since my teen likes to wear makeup.

This is a really smart idea! I usually use disposable cotton pads for my face, but this is a way more environmentally-friendly idea. Plus, it's a great way to practice crochetting in the round! I'm going to make these for myself, and probably whip up a few for christmas gifts, as well.

I have some of these made out of toul. They are wonderful for pots pans and does not abuse the surface of a glass top stove. I love mine and wish I could find someone that knows how to make them. I do not crochet. I bought mine at a craft sale.

I crochet these all the time, but I use macrame yarn 2.0mm It is scratchy and a little rough but is great for exfoliating in the shower. Maybe too rough for the face. They can also be washed and dried.

I like it. I have made scrubbies in the past but I did it a little differently. I used colored netting which I cut into strips, then crochet very similarly to your pattern. I cut the strips, then fold them with rough edges in, and crochet. I think I generally use a size J hook. I think I almost like your idea better, as you are using the cotton yarn. Thank you for sharing this with us! )

shouldn't round 5 be done in double crochet (instead of single crochet)?
