Holiday Decorating Tips for Your Next Party

Who Says Your Christmas Party Has to Have All the Traditional Trimmings?

One thing that makes Christmas stand out from other holidays is the decorating possibilities. Start thinking about what you'll have on the interior of your home, which can transform your household into a spectacular holiday gathering place by simply spicing up the decor.

Let's talk dinner party. You're having a few of your nearest and dearest over to exchange holiday mementos, gab about the kids and reminisce about old times. Set the scene with a great table scape, starting with candle tea lights in beautiful
stainless steel holders, accented by bits of evergreen garland, berries and pine cones. For a more traditional look, cancel the tea lights and go for classic candlesticks in red or green. This candlelit table setting is also fit for a romantic evening for two.

Yuletide Table Accents

For the large group gathering, you want to be creative without forcing everyone to wear a silly hat. Dress up your extra folding chairs with with Christmas chair covers that adopt the fun and traditional red and green color scheme, or get elegant with red and silver or green and gold color complements. This will give your living room some excitement and put your guests in a feel-good mood!

Lastly, circulate the desserts on decorative trays that you can make yourself. Of course you have to do this ahead of time so the paint will set, but go out and purchase large round tin plates along with your favorite set of paints from the craft store. Decorate the plates in a reindeer or snowman motif, highlighting all the special things we love about the holidays: friends, family and gifts! It won't matter what you serve, everyone will love it. As your guests leave, hand them some holiday goodies in decorative bags or jars. Chinese take-out boxes are another popular goodie bag container that are easy to carry and memorable for your guests. Sew small holiday panels together for a quilted effect, or go crazy with fun markers and paints. It's up to you!

The possibilities for your holiday decor extend beyond the traditional wreaths and candy canes. See what you can do to achieve the magical holiday feeling.
