Simple Crochet Beanie

Materials:

  • 5.00mm Crochet Hook
  • 6.00mm Crochet Hook
  • 2 Colours of 50g 8ply Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry/Wool Needle

Size:

  • 3 to 10 Years {Head Circumference 19.5 inches, 50cm. Beanie Height 8 inches, 20cm}
  • Or Fits 13 Years & Up

Instructions:
Chains at the start of a round count as the first Double Crochet of that round

3 - 10 Years

  1. Round 1 Taking your 5.00mm Crochet Hook, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 4 Chains. Crochet 11 Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 4. You should have 12 double crochets now.
     
  2. Round 2 Chain 3. Crochet 2 Double Crochets into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 24 double crochets now.
     
  3. Round 3 Chain 3. *Crochet 1 Double Crochet, then crochet 2 Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 36 double crochets now.
     
  4. Round 4 Chain 3. *Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 2 stitches, then crochet 2 Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 48 double crochets now.
     
  5. Round 5 Chain 3. *Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 3 stitches, then crochet 2 Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 60 double crochets now.
     
  6. Round 6 Chain 3. *Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 11 stitches, then crochet 2 Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 65 double crochets now.
     
  7. Round 7 Taking your 6.00mm Crochet Hook Chain 3. Crochet 1 Double Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3.
     
  8. Round 8,9,10,11 Chain 3. Crochet 1 Double Crochet into every stitch all around, but only through the back loop. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3.
     
  9. Round 12 Chain 3. On this row you will also only be crocheting through the back loop.*Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 11 stitches,then crochet 1 Double Crochet Decrease into the next 2 stitches. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3.
     
  10. Round 13 Change colour to pink, then Chain 3. On this row you will also only be crocheting through the back loop.*Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 10 stitches,then crochet 1 Double Crochet Decrease into the next 2 stitches. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3.
     
  11. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.

 

13 Years & Up
   

  1. Round 1 Taking your 6.00 Crochet Hook, start of by making a Slip Knot, then crochet 4 Chains. Crochet 11 Double Crochets into the first chain you made. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 4. You should have 12 double crochets now.
     
  2. Round 2 Chain 3. Crochet 2 Double Crochets into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 24 double crochets now.
     
  3. Round 3 Chain 3. *Crochet 1 Double Crochet, then crochet 2 Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 36 double crochets now.
     
  4. Round 4 Chain 3. *Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 2 stitches, then crochet 2 Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 48 double crochets now.
     
  5. Round 5 Chain 3. *Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 3 stitches, then crochet 2 Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 60 double crochets now.
     
  6. Round 6 Chain 3. *Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 11 stitches, then crochet 2 Double Crochets in the next stitch. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3. You should have 65 double crochets now.
     
  7. Round 7 Chain 3. Crochet 1 Double Crochet into every stitch all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3.
     
  8. Round 8,9,10,11,12 Chain 3. Crochet 1 Double Crochet into every stitch all around, but only through the back loop. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3.
     
  9. Round 13 Chain 3. On this row you will also only be crocheting through the back loop.*Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 11 stitches,then crochet 1 Double Crochet Decrease into the next 2 stitches. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3.
     
  10. Round 14 Chain 3. On this row you will also only be crocheting through the back loop.*Crochet 1 Double Crochet into the next 10 stitches, then crochet 1 Double Crochet Decrease into the next 2 stitches. Repeat from the * all around. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3.
     
  11. Round 15 Change yarn colour to pink, then Chain 3. Crochet 1 Half Double Crochet into every stitch all around, but only through the back loop. Slip Stitch into the top of chain 3.
     
  12.  Finish off. Weave in any loose ends.

 

Flower Pattern

  1. Round 1 Taking your 5.00 Crochet Hook, start of by making a Slip Knot. *Chain 10 them Slip Stitch down into the slip knot. Repeat from the * sign 6 more times.
     
  2. Round 2 Into every 10 Chain "Loop" you made on the previous round you need to crochet, 1 Single Crochet, 2 Half Double Crochets, 6 Double Crochets, 1 Triple/Treble Crochet, Chain 2, 1 Triple/Treble Crochet, 6 Double Crochets, 2 Half Double Crochets and then finish off with 1 Single Crochet.
     
  3. Repeat into the next 6 Chain "Loops". Slip Stitch into the into the last stitch.
     
  4. Fasten off leaving a 30cm {12 Inches} tail of yarn. Now thread a needle onto the tail of yarn and sew the button into the middle of the flower.
     
  5. Fasten off and weave in any loose ends.
