Yarn Weight: (4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

  • RED HEART Super Saver (4 ply weight): 1 skein  0332 Pale Yellow, 2 skeins 0311 White    
  • RED HEART Classic (4 ply weight): 3 skeins 0681Mist Green
  • Crochet Hook: 5.0 mm (US H-8) crochet hook or size needed for gauge

Afghan Measures:  42” x 51”

Gauge:  7 dc – 2 ¼”
              4 rows – 2 ¾”

Note: Afghan is crocheted in multiples of 7 plus 2.

 

Instructions:

Row 1 (RS): With green ch 135, 5 dc in 6th ch from hook, *skip 2 chs, dc in next 2 chs, skip 2 chs, 5 dc in next ch, repeat from * across to last 3 chs, skip 2 chs, dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 5, dc in first dc, *skip next 5 dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in each of next 2 dc, repeat from * across to last 6 dc, skip 5 dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in last dc, turn.
Row 3: Ch 5, dc in first dc, *skip next 2 ch 2 spaces, (dc, ch 2, dc) in each of next 2 dc, repeat from * across to last 2 ch 2 spaces, skip last ch 2 space, (dc, ch 2, dc) in last dc, turn.
Row 4: Ch 3, skip next ch 2 space and next dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in space before next dc, ch 1, *skip next 2 ch 2 spaces, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, skip next ch 2 space and dc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in space before next dc, ch 1, repeat from * across to last ch 2 space, skip last ch 2 space, dc in last dc, fasten off and turn.
Row 5: Join yellow in first stitch, ch 2, skip next ch 1 space, 5 dc in next ch 2 space, *skip next ch 1 space, dc in next 2 dc, skip next ch 1 space, 5 dc in next ch 2 space, repeat from * across to last ch 1 space, skip last ch 1 space, dc in last dc, turn.

Color Scheme
Repeat Rows 2 – 5 (changing color on Row 5) for a total of 64 rows as follows:
(4 rows yellow, 4 rows white, 4 row green) 5 times

EDGING
With right side facing and white work along top edge [(dc, ch 1) 4 times, dc] in right corner dc,
*ch 1,  sc in next ch 2 space, ch 1, skip 1 dc, (dc, ch 1) twice in next dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next dc,
repeat from * across ending [(dc, ch 1) 4 times, dc] in last dc.
Work along side edge skip 1 dc space, *ch l, sc in next dc space, ch 1, [(dc, ch 1) twice, dc] in next dc space, repeat from * across.
Work along bottom edge [(dc, ch 1) 4 times, dc] in first dc, *ch 1, sc in ch below 5 dc, ch 1,
(dc, ch 1) twice in next dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next dc, repeat from * across ending [(dc, ch 1) 4 times, dc] in last dc.
Work along side edge, *ch 1, sc in dc space, [(dc, ch 1) twice, dc] in next dc space, repeat from * across ending ch 1, join to beginning dc and fasten off.

The Springtime Lace Afghan Pattern is so cute. It will make a great baby blanket for that special baby. This could be made in many different colors that will really be pretty. The pattern reads really easy and a beginner could do this.I am looking forward to to this project in the very near future.
