Easter Sunday Afghan
Curl up with this Easter Sunday Afghan and enjoy your treats from the Easter bunny on Easter Sunday morning. Made with light pastel yarn, this afghan is perfect for spring, and can even be used for a new baby gift for either a little girl or boy. This easy crocheted afghan pattern is great for beginners, and is the perfect way to spend a rainy spring weekend inside.
Materials:
- 2 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Blue Jewel
- 2 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Lily Pink
- 2 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in White
- 3 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Hushabye
- 5.0 mm (US H-8) crochet hook or size needed for gauge
Gauge: 4 rows – 3”; V St, 2 dcs – 1 ¾”
Special Stitches:
- V St – (dc, ch 2, dc) in stitch or space as indicated.
- Cluster (Cl) – Yo, insert hook in specified space and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook, (yo, insert hook in same space and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice, yo and draw through all 4 loops on hook.
Instructions:
Blanket is crocheted in multiples of 7 plus 4.
Blanket Measures: 39” x 45”
- Row 1: With blue ch 158, dc in 4th ch from hook, *skip next 2 chs, V St in next ch, skip 2 chs, dc in next 2 chs, repeat form * across, turn.
- Row 2 (RS): Ch 3, dc in next dc, *ch 2, Cl in ch 2 space of V St, ch 2, dc each of next 2 dcs, repeat from * across, turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, dc in next dc, *V St in top of next Cl, dc in each of next 2 dcs, repeat from * across, turn.
- Row 4: Repeat Row 2, fasten off and turn.
- Row 5: Join hushabye in first stitch, ch 3, continue with Row 3.
- Row 6: Repeat Row 2, turn and fasten off.
Color Scheme: Continue pattern as established for a total of 58 rows as follows: (4 rows pink, 2 rows hushabye, 4 rows white, 2 rows hushabye, 4 rows blue, 2 rows hushabye) 2 times, (4 rows pink, 2 rows hushabye, 4 rows white, 2 rows hushabye, 4 rows blue] 1 time
Edging
- With hushabye work along top edge (sc, ch 3, 3 dcs) in first right corner dc, [(sc, ch 2, sc) in top of next Cl, skip 1 dc, (sc, ch 3, 2 dcs) in next dc] across ending (3 dcs, ch 3, sc) in last dc.
- Work along side edge (sc, ch 2, sc) in space between next 2 rows, skip 1 ch space, [(sc, ch 3, 2 dcs) in next space, (sc, ch 2, sc) in next space] across ending (sc, ch 3, 3 dcs) in first bottom ch.
- Work along bottom edge [(sc, ch 2, sc) in ch below V St, skip next ch 2 space and ch below 1 dc, (sc, ch 3, 2 dcs) in ch below next dc] across ending (sc, ch 3, 3 dcs) in last ch.
- Work along side edge as for opposite side edge, join to beginning sc and fasten off.
