Snow Card

If you love making cards, try iron-on threads for a quick embellishment that looks like embroidery. It's much faster and more flexible. You can hang charms or tags, outline die cuts, and so much more.

Snow Card

Materials:

  • Blank 5x7 card
  • Blue parchment cardstock (Wausau Astroparche)
  • Blueberry Fizz Cobblestone (Fibermark)
  • Ivory Tag (Paper Reflections)
  • Snow print paper (Provo Craft, Kathy Distefano Griffiths)Cherish picture (Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage Cuts, Winter Wonderland)
  • Letter tags (Rebecca Sower Nostalgiques)
  • Kreinik Iron-On Thread: #16 Braid 6225 Gold
  • Kreinik Iron-On Thread: 1/8" Ribbon 6090 Black
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Iron
  • Teflon presscloth

Steps:

  1. Turn your iron onto the highest heat setting and let it heat thoroughly.

  2. Cut your blue parchment cardstock to fit your card. Cut one 3" x 3" square of Snow print paper. Cut a 1" strip of Blueberry Fizz paper the same width as your card. Cut out your Cherish picture.

  3. Begin attaching your pieces to your card. Position the background cardstock, then your Snow square and tag. Attach your Blueberry Fizz strip across the them.

  4. Using your iron, create a border with Black ribbon around the outside edge of your cardstock background. Position your thread, cover with Teflon Press Cloth, then press for several seconds or until the thread adheres. Continue working your design in sections.

  5. Then string your letters onto your Gold braid. Iron down one end of the braid on your design; slide one letter at a time into position and iron it down, so that they "hang" on the braid. (Always cover the thread with the Teflon Press Cloth when using iron-on thread.) When finished, continue embellishing your design with the braid.

  6. Attach your Cherish picture to the card.
