The quick and simple formula for creating DIY chalkboard paint is easy to follow. Whether you're a beginner or an expert at crafting, you're sure to discover some creative inspiration.


     

    Materials:

    • Plaster of Paris (POP)
    • Paint (flat or eggshell)
    • Paint brush
    • Tub/container to mix paint
    • Furniture wax/or Polyurethane
    • Wet towels
    • Sanding block
    • Vaseline or lanoline

    Instructions:

    1. Clean the furniture (no sanding required).
    2. Mix POP and water till smooth than I mix in the paint till well mixed put very little vaseline on parts where you will be distressing. You could skip this step if you get a 60 or 80 grid sanding block.
    3. Paint the furniture with the paint brush (two or three coats will be required).
    4. Wait to dry.
    5. Take your sanding block and go over where you want it to be distressed.
    6. Wipe the whole thing with a wet rag to make sure it is dust free.
    7. Finish with Furniture wax or poly.
