Embellished New Years Canvas

Celebrate the start of a new year with DIY home decor crafts. Use fun embellishments like buttons, beads and small toys to decorate your Embellished New Years Canvas from Candace Jedrowicz - the more colorful, the piece, the more it will stand out on your wall all year long.


 

Materials:

• Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue
• Hot glue
• Paint
• Paint brush
• Masonite rectangles
• Letters
• Buttons
• Seed beads
• Tiny toys
• Jewelry pieces
• Gem
• Small knick knacks, doo dads and whatsits

Instructions:

1. Thin your paint with water to make a wash and paint the canvas and Masonite rectangles.  Allow to dry.
    
2. Using hot glue, attach the Masonite rectangles, the letters  and build a background of buttons and other flat pieces.  By the end of this project, you won’t see them.
    
3. Begin layering on more dimensional  pieces.
    
4. Lay Clear Gel Tacky into any large gaps and push seed beads into the glue.
    
5. Finish with gems and accents.
