Star Kitchen Mitts

Crochet Star Kitchen Mitts

 


Materials:

  • Yarn: Lily® Sugar’n Cream® (70.9 g / 2.5 oz) Quantity for 2 Oven Mitts.
    Color A - #00009 Bright Navy 4 ¾ oz [133 g]; 227 yds [205 m] or 2 balls
    Color B - #00001 White ½ oz [8 g]; 14 yds [13 m] or 1 ball
  • Crochet Hook: Size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 13 sc and 16 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

Instructions:

Mitt
Fronts and Backs
(make 4 pieces alike)
With A, ch 24.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 23 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in last sc. Turn.
3rd to 6th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
7th row: Ch 1. Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook - Sc2tog made. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
8th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last 5 sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
9th row: Ch 13. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 11 ch. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. 29 sc.
10th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in last sc. Turn.
11th row: Ch 1. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
12th to 14th rows: Rep 10th and 11th rows once more, then 10th row once.
15th to 20th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
21st row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
22nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to last 3 sts. Sc2tog. 1 sc in last sc. Turn.
23rd to 25th rows: Rep 21st and 22nd rows once more, then 21st row once. 29 sc.
26th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Fasten off.

STAR (with B make 4)
Base: Ch 2.
1st rnd: 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st in first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. 20 sc. Join with sl st in first sc.

First Point: *Next row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
Next row: Ch 1. (Sc2tog) twice. Turn.
Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. Turn.
Next row: Ch 2. Sl st along side of Point to Base.
Rep from * 4 times more. 5 Points in total. Fasten off.

Finishing
With WS facing, pin 2 Mitt pieces tog. Join A with sl st to base of thumb section at side seam. Ch 1. Working through both thicknesses, work in sc around outer edge of Mitt to join 2 pieces tog, leaving bottom open. Work 1 rnd of sc around open bottom of Mitt. Ch 6 (loop). 1 sc in base of ch. Fasten off.
Rep for second Mitt.
Sew Star to each Mitt as shown in picture.

What a neat set of gloves. You can never have too many of them. I have a habit of getting stains on all of mine. That's why I make them out of cotton yarn so I can wash them. And this is a very easy pattern to follow. Thanks for sharing it.
