Upcycled Lace Tote Bag
Turn an old purse into this vintage style bag with this Upcycled Lace Tote Bag tutorial from Mitzi Curi. With a few simple materials, you can turn a blah bag into something you'll be proud to have on your shoulder. This is a great way to give a new face to an old handbag. Patterns like this are great for women of all ages, and makes a wonderful gift sisters, friends, and moms!
Materials:
- Old tote bag
- Vintage lace and/or crocheted trim
- Hot glue gun
Instructions:
- All I did was wash the bag in the washing machine and gather lengths of vintage lace and crocheted trim that I had lying around the house. I purposely chose different sizes and shades of cream, white, and ecru to give it some contrast.
- Because I wasn't in the mood to sew, and some of the bag had leather reinforcement that I definitely couldn't sew through, I decided to hot glue the lace on the bag. It worked wonderfully.
- You can see below that I left a bit around the bottom without lace. I glued right over the leather, gathering the lace slightly as I moved along, and only gluing the top of the lace, overlapping the rows a little each time.
