Glass Mosaic Candlesticks
Let the beach come to your house. Using paints, sea glass, beach sand and a few other materials you can have amazing candlesticks in your home.
Materials:
- STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam:
- Cubes, 3", two
- Tumbled sea glass, several small bags
- Beach sand, small amount
- Seashells, assorted
- Gray acrylic paint
- Latex ceramic tile adhesive
- Plastic floral candle picks
- Ruler
- Medium flat paintbrush
- Palette knife
- Disposable palette
- Disposable bowl
- Water basin
- Paper towels
Steps:
- Paint candle picks gray; let dry. Push picks firmly into center tops of each foam cube.
- Mix small amount of sand into small amount of latex adhesive in disposable bowl. Note: Adhesive dries out quickly so keep covered with damp paper towel when not in use.
- Use palette knife to spread 1/4"-thick layer of adhesive onto small area of first foam cube. Press pieces of sea glass firmly into adhesive, placing pieces as close together as possible. Repeat to cover all four sides of cube.
- Spread layer of adhesive onto top of cube; press shells into adhesive. Fill gaps with more adhesive and more shells, avoiding candle pick opening.
- Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for second cube. Let candlesticks dry overnight.

OH, beachy, just in time for the summer! Wouldn't these be nice on the patio or in a beach resort? Looks like a lot of fin to create, and you could modify the base to any sturdy shape to fit your preference. And it is always nice to upcycle pieces of glass or porcelain to create something new and creative for the home or as a thoughtful handmade gift!
