Materials List
- 1 oz (30 ml) melted coconut oil
- 1 oz (30 ml) jojoba oil
- 2 tsp (5 g) cacao nibs (see Tips)
- 1⁄2 vanilla bean pod (see Tips)
Skin type: all skin types | Shelf life: 3–6 months
Instructions
-
Use the warm method to infuse the coconut and jojoba oils with the cacao nibs and vanilla pod in just 6 hours.
-
When the oil is infused, strain out the cacao nibs and the vanilla pod and reserve the fragrant oil in a bottle of your choice. To use, massage onto your skin.
Tips: Cacao nibs are broken-down pieces of cacao (or cocoa) beans; they have a chocolaty aroma and flavor. You can find them in most supermarkets and health-food stores.
I always slice open a vanilla bean pod and scrape out the inner seeds to use in my baking and use just the pods to infuse oil for my skin care. You can also add the seeds to a jar of sugar; you can then use this vanilla sugar for baking.
Pour this blend into a bath, or use it to make Body Butter or Solid Body Moisturizer.
