This really cute, traditional hat from Authentic Knitting Board that can be made on any knitting board with 22 needles.

Knit in (3) Easy Pieces on Mini Knitting Board. Can be knit in one piece with knitting board with 54needles.

 

This hat will fit most. To create a smaller version for small adult, make all (3) pieces same with (16) cast on stitches.

Stitches: Ribbing
 

Materials:

  • Knitting Board
  • Plastic Darning Needle for sewing
  • Crochet Hook for bind off.
  • Yarn: Brown Sheep Wool or any bulky weight wool/blend, 150 yds of main and 75 yds of accent


Instructions:

  1. Knit (3) pieces.
  2. Cast on (18) Stitches in main color.
  3. Place Anchor Yarn (same yarn as hat) This is the top of hat.
  4. Knit in Rib for (10) rows. Cut yarn with 2-3 inch tail.
  5. Tie in accent color.
  6. Knit in Rib for (3) rows. Cut yarn with 2-3 inch tail..
  7. Tie in main color.
  8. Knit in Rib for (4) rows. Cut yarn with 2-3 inch tail.
  9. Tie in accent color.
  10. Knit in Rib for (4) rows. Cut yarn with 2-3 inch tail.
  11. Tie in main color.
  12. Knit in Rib for (8) rows. Cut yarn with 2-3 inch tail.
  13. Tie in accent color.
  14. Knit in Rib for (1) row. Knit additional row for more accent on brim.
  15. Bind off loosely. This will be the Brim edge.
  16. Finishing: Lay all (3) pieces side by side with anchor yarns at same end, matching the stripes.
  17. Sew the (3) pieces together with matching yarns.
  18. Now, sew the last seam to make a circular piece.
  19. Tie the anchor yarns together to form one long continuous anchor yarn.
  20. Draw the anchor yarn together to form top of hat.
  21. Turn Brim up to desired position.
  22. Pom Pom for top of hat:
  23. With remaining yarn from both colors or one, wrap the yarns around your four fingers.
  24. Tie the loops in center to form a bow with new piece of double yarn (aprox 12 in length).
  25. Wrap again and knot again for strength.
  26. Leave the tails of yarn long to use when attaching to the hat.
  27. Cut the loops and trim pompom to round ball.
  28. With tails of yarn, draw into hat and tie to secure pompom.

I would like to have that pattern for regular knitting.

I THINK THAT A VERSION FOR JUST PLAIN KNITTING WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. I DON'T KNOW WHAT A BOARD CAN BE NOR DO I WANT ONE. BUT I HAVE A PATTERN FOR THE SAME TIME OF HAT. MAYBE I SHOULD PUT IT ON FAVECRAFT. LADYNELL75

What is a knitting board? I don't understand.
