Easy Fall Table Decoration

This Easy Fall Table Decoration makes a lovely addition to your Thanksgiving table.  Decorated with fall themed paper, this small box can easily be filled with flowers, candies, potpourri, or pine cones.  This is an easy fall table decoration that can be adapted to suit any season.  Use brightly colored paper and colorful daisies for a cute summer decoration, or use muted colors and lovely white roses for a Christmas centerpiece that's sure to please.

Materials:

  • Small wooden box
  • One sheet of scrapbook paper ~ for this project, brown scrapbook paper with yellow and white polka dots was used 
  • Mod Podge
  • 10/32” paint brush
  • Matching ribbon ~ for this project, orange ribbon with white polka dots was used
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Hairdryer
  • Old cloth
  • Small piece of dry floral foam
  • Matching dried flowers

 

Instructions:

  1. Trace the four sides of the box onto the scrapbook paper and cut it out.

  2. Paint a layer of Mod Podge onto 1 side of the box and put the first scrapbook cutout in place. Working from the middle of the cutout, and from the inside towards the outside, rub out all the air bubbles and excess Mod Podge from the back of the cutout.  Use an old cloth to clear any excess Mod Podge from the wooden box.

  3. Repeat step 2 with the three other sides of the box.

  4. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to all four sides of the wooden box and use the hairdryer to dry the box thoroughly.
     
  5. Gently brush some Mod Podge onto a section of the ribbon. Glue it in place on one side of the box, and dry the ribbon with the hairdryer so that it will stick.
     
  6. Repeat step 5 with two more sides of the box.
     
  7. Tie the ribbon on the fourth side, and make a small bow.

  8. Add a small piece of dry floral foam to the inside of the box.
     
  9. Arrange the dried flowers in the box.
