Crayon scratch art is one of the most darling crafts to do at home. It's a fantastic rainy day project, and the unicorn element is simply perfect. Make your own scratch art with a box of crayons and plain white paper. You probably have these materials in your cabinet right now! Choose vividly colorful crayons to really amplify the magical unicorn element. Bonus points if you draw a unicorn on your scratch art when you're done! You can use this technique to make a really lovely card, or simply to draw whatever you like!

  • White paper
  • Pen cap or toothpick

Instructions

  1. Choose your first color. Use bright, vivid colors! Create a thick layer of your chosen color on the page.

  2. Select your next color. Color a thick layer of that color next to the first color you chose.

  3. Continue in this way, coloring sections of thick, bright color, on your page until the area you want to color is filled.

  4. Now cover all the colors with your black crayon. Color a thick layer. You'll probably color a couple of coats to make sure your colors are completely covered.

I used to do this all the time when I was a kid! This is a really fun and inexpensive activity to keep kids busy.

Really! I have never seen this done before but what a real cool craft and you are right it is so very cheap project to do with the grandkids or kids or even pre-k. It would be great to see what they come up with. This would also be relaxing for an adult to do too. Thanks.

Wow! I haven't seen this in years. We did it in school over 50 years ago. It's an easy art to do. I am going to do it with the grand kids the next time they are at my house. It's cheap, easy and they can be as creative as they want .
