Create a gorgeous snowflake with fun and unexpected materials. The Sparkle Snowflake Pasta Ornament is a fun project that combines matte and sparkly materials. The yellow color of pasta gives the ornament a vintage look, and the sparkly rhinestones really make the project pop. Add a glittery snowflake in the center to bring together the entire look. Add a unique ornament to your tree this year that will have guests asking you all about it! The best ornaments are homemade, and this one is one for the books.

A Note from the Designer: "I was looking for something easy that was bright and shiny with a vintage look. I think I found it."

Materials List

  • 16 Mini wheels pasta
  • 16 Penne Rigate No.76 pasta
  • Rhinestones (9 Red, 12 Green)
  • Elmers Craft Bond
  • 1 1/2 in stick on snowflake
  • 1 6in. Piece of Gold Cord

Instructions

  1. Glue 2 pieces of penne together to form a V on one end a point on the other end. Repeat to make 8.

  2. On a flat surface form an X with 4 of the  penne, pointed ends in center, glue. Glue the other 4 penne pieces in the center of the V shapes formed by the X. (I use a sheet of foil to form these in case of glue drips.)

  3. Glue 8 mini wheels in the spaces between the penne pieces, pushing them in to the place where they hit both sides of the opening.

  4. Glue 8 mini wheels to V end of penne. (The wheels do not fit into the V but glue onto the points.)

  5. Glue snowflake to center and glue rhinestones to center of wheels. Let dry completely turn over and add a drop of glue at each joint. When dry add hanging cord.
