Mini and Me Heart Socks
"Knitting socks is such a joy at any size! The project is small enough that you can take it with you anywhere you go, and the basic recipe for sock knitting, has very little variation so it’s easy to customize to any size foot! You will need: Approximately 400 yards of Universal Yarn Curio sock yarn and 100 yards of Curio Mini sock yarn, double pointed needles in the size needed to get 7 sts per inch, and or a 9 inch circular needle, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, scissors, two stitch markers, and a measuring tool."

Instructions

These are the instructions for the mini size. I “doubled the recipe for a women’s size 5 foot”. Socks can be made at any size, and the recipe is the same, to calculate for your foot I would suggest taking your ankle measurement and multiplying by your stitches per inch to get your starting number. The heart chart is a multiple of 8 stitches)
-
Cast on 32 sts using the long tail cast on. join in the round
-
Work in K1 p1 ribbing for 1 inch. (Longer if you want a longer cuff)
-
Work 3 rounds in stockinette stitch.

Refer to the hearts chart, and work stranded colorwork for the heart motif over the specified amount of rows. Protip: you can hold one strand in each hand, “throwing” with your contrasting color and “picking” with your main color
-
Work two rows in stockinette stitch.
-
Begin the heel flap by working half of the sts (16)
-
Work slip one knit one * (rs) and purl all stitches (ws) over the heel flap back and forth, for 16 rows. ( make a square)

-
Knit the foot in stockinette stitch even until you have reached 1.5 inches to the end of the foot. (Try it on for size, your work should align with where the toes begin. For mini sock knit for 1 inch.
-
Decrease for the toe: Decrease for toe on both sides of the stitch markers every other row Ssk before the first marker and K2tog after the second st marker
-
Decrease until you have 12 total sts 6 on the top of the foot and six on the bottom.
