Three Fun Eye Glass Holders

Give your glasses some jewelry and you'll be able to find them any time without a hurried search throughout the house. This DIY jewelry design is from Maria Nerius.

Seahorse & Friends

Materials:

  • 15” Blue Moon S medium cable chain
  • Blue Moon Natural Elegance starfish charms
  • Blue Moon Natural Elegance seahorse pendant
  • 33 Halcraft blue crystal beads (4 for earrings)
  • 23 Halcraft clear crystal beads (2 for earrings)
  • Beading wire
  • 2 Crimp beads
  • Crimper
  • Needle nose pliers
  • 8 Jump rings
  • Clasp
  • Permanent black ink or inkpad
  • Cotton swab

Instructions:

  1. Add toggle of clasp to one end of chain with jump ring. Measure 17” of beading wire.
  2. String on crimp bead at one end, string through last link of chain, bring wire back though crimp bead and crimp.
     
  3. String on crystal beads: 2 blue, one clear, blue, clear, blue clear. Repeat pattern 5 times, then clear, blue, clear, blue, clear, blue, crimp bead.
     
  4. Add second part of clasp; bring wire back through crimp bead and crimp.
     
  5. The seahorse pendant comes antiqued, but the starfish charms do not. To antique the charms lay out 4 large and 5 small of the starfish onto newspaper or paper towel. Dab cotton swab on permanent inkpad, and then dab color onto charms. Add light coats until happy with look.
     
  6. Attach starfish charms with jump rings just below center of chain: 2 small, large, small, large, 2 small. Attach seahorse pendant to cent of necklace where chain meets beaded wire using a jump ring. Your glasses can slip through the tail of the seahorse!

Earrings

  1. String on blue, clear, and blue beads to eye pin, make a loop at top and attach to earring wire. Add starfish charm to eye of eye pin with jump ring.


Black And White Insight

Materials:

  • 22” Blue Moon S medium cable chain
  • 6 Blue Moon lampwork black and white round beads
  • 4 Blue Moon lampwork black and white square beads
  • 6 Clear spacers*
  • 4 Clear E beads*
  • Eyeglass holder dangle hoop
  • Beading wire
  • 2 Crimp beads
  • Crimper
  • Needle nose pliers

*The clear spacers and E beads were strung with the Blue Moon lampwork beads as purchased.

Instructions:

  1. Measure and cut 10” of beading wire. Crimp on end to last link on chain.
     
  2. Sting on round bw bead, spacer, square bw bead, E bead, round, E, square, spacer, round, spacer, eyeglass holder dangle hoop. Reverse and repeat pattern.
     
  3. Thread on a crimp bead, bring through raw end of chain, thread back through crimping bead and crimp.
     
  4. Use leftover beads to make earrings.

Earrings

  1.  You can make coordinating earrings with either the round or square black and white lampwork beads. Slide onto an eye pin or head pin, make a loop trimming excess wire if needed and then close loop onto eye pin or head pin. If using an eye pin you can add a dangle with a jump ring.

Inspiration Circle

Materials:

  • Blue Moon inspirational circle disk
  • 3 Blue Moon bead mixes sea breeze
  • Beading wire
  • 2 Crimp beads
  • Crimper
  • Needle nose pliers


Instructions:

  1. Separate out the bead mixes finding: 30 three sided clear beads, 8 green oval beads, 8 large clear beads, 8 long flat blue beads, 19 square blue beads. Set aside 2 long flat beads and 2 three sided clear beads for earrings. Blue Moon bead mixes are consist so you should find more than enough beads to make this eyeglass chain and earrings with extra to adjust for longer length.
     
  2. Cut 25” of bead wire. Crimp one end of wire to loop on inspirational circle disk.
     
  3. String on 1 three-sided clear bead, square blue, three-sided clear, large clear, long blue, large clear, long blue, large clear, long blue, large clear, square blue, green oval, square blue, green oval, square blue, green oval, square blue, green oval, square blue, 12 three-sided clear, 2 blue square. Add one blue square and then reverse pattern and repeat.
     
  4. Crimp raw end of bead wire onto second loop of inspirational circle disk. Your glasses slide through the circle for safekeeping!

Earrings

  1. Slide a three-sided blue clear bead and a long blue bead onto head pin. Make a loop at end and trim if needed. Close loop onto earring wire. Repeat for second earring. You will have other beads left over so you can make several combinations of earrings to coordinate with your eyeglass holder.
