Breakfast-Time Basketweave Placemat
You probably have the materials for this placemat craft already at home! The Breakfast-Time Basketweave Placemat by Tiffany Threadgould is a great way to make use of old cereal boxes and milk cartons. Your kids will love having their favorite cereal box cartoons looking up at them from the table!
Materials:
- empty milk carton
- empty cereal box
- dental floss
- scissors
- ruler
Instructions:
- First, make sure your milk carton is clean. Disassemble your carton and cut into ½-inch strips. Do the same with the front panel from your favorite cereal box.
- Weave together. (See illustration below.)
- Finish the edges by weaving dental floss around the perimeter so your beautiful new placemat doesn't come apart. Secure the floss by tying the ends in a double knot. Now you have a new placemat made from freshly recycled materials!
