"One of the most tedious things to do after crocheting a pattern that consists of many pieces that need to be sewn together is to join them and to do it in a way that doesn't look too obvious. If you use the mattress stitch, that problem will be solved. In this short demo, I used black thread to join two different colored pieces, (something no one would ever do), but I did it to prove that the joining stitches absolutely do not show! "
