Squeaky Mouse

This squeaky mouse is so cute in gray and pink. This free crochet pattern is a darling gift or decoration for your son or daughter's bedroom.

Squeaky Mouse

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn - about 2 oz MC, and 1 oz CC
  • Scrap of black & white for embroidery for eyes (or safety eyes can be used)
  • Crochet hook size F (US)
  • Polyfill
  • Yarn needle


Finished Size - 7 inches tall including ears
Gauge - 4 sc = 1 inch. 4 sc rows = 1 inch.

Notes: Do not join rounds unless indicated. Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker or scrap of yarn. Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Instructions:

Head
Rnd 1: With MC and starting at top of head ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 5: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (24 sc)
Rnds 6 - 9: Sc in each sc around.
***If using animal eyes insert them now over rounds 6 - 7. ***
Rnd 10: (Sc in next 2 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (18 sc)
Rnd 11: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 12: (Sc in next sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (12 sc)
Rnd 13: Sc in each sc around. Join with a sl st in next sc, leaving a length of
yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Stuff head firmly.


Body

Rnd 1: With MC and starting at bottom of body ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (18 sc)
Rnd 4: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (24 sc)
Rnds 5 - 8: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 9: (Sc in next 6 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around, (21 sc)
Rnds 10 - 11: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 12: (Sc in next 5 sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around, (18 sc)
Rnd 13: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 12: (Sc in next sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (12 sc)
Rnd 13: Sc in each sc around. Join with a sl st in next sc, fasten off.
Stuff body firmly. With the remaining length of yarn, sew the head and body sections together adding more stuffing to the neck area if needed before closing.


Ears (Make 2 with MC and 2 with CC)

Row 1: Ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, 6 dc in last ch, working around into opposite side of starting chain, sc in next 2 chs. (10 sts)
Row 2: Sl st in loosely first st, sc in next st, 2 hdc in each next 6 sts, sc in next st, sl st in next st, ch 1, turn. (16 sts)
Row 3: Sl st loosely in first 2 sts, sc in next st, 2 hdc in each next 10 sts, sc in next st, sl st in next 2 sts. Fasten off (26sts)
Joining Ears: Place CC section over MC ear section and with MC yarn crochet them together over row 3 as follows - Join with a sl st in first st of row 3 of ear, sl st in each next 2 sts, sc in 2 sts, hdc in next 16 sts, sc in next 2 sts, sl st in last 3 sts. Leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Sew opening of ear closed. Sew ears to rnds 2 - 7 of top of head.


Legs (Make 2)

Rnd 1: With MC, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (9 sc)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around.(12 sc)
Rnds 4 - 5: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 6: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (15 sc)
Rnd 7: Sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in next sc. Leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Stuff legs and sew in a sitting position to rnds 5 - 10 of front of body.


Arms (Make 2)

Rnd 1: With MC, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 4: (Sc in next sc, decrease 1 sc over next 2 sc) repeat around. (8 sc)
Rnds 5 - 9: Sc in each sc around. At the end of rnd 9 join with a sl st in next sc.
Leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Stuff arms and sew opening closed. Sew arms over rnds 11 - 13 of sides of body.


Muzzle

Rnd 1: With MC, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around. (9 sc)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around.(12 sc)
Rnds 4: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 5: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around, join with a sl st in next sc. Leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.(15 sc)
Sew muzzle over rnds 7 - 12 of center of face, stuff before closing.

Nose

Rnd 1: With CC, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat around, join with a sl st in next sc. Leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off. (8 sc)
Sew nose to top of muzzle - DO NOT STUFF.


Tail

Rnd 1: With CC, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnds 2 - 3: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 4: Sc in each next 5 sc, 2 sc in last sc. (7 sc)
Rnds 5 - 10: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 11: Sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in last sc. (8 sc)
Rnds 12 - 16: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 17: Sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in last sc. (9 sc)
Rnds 18 - 20: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 21: Sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in last sc. (10 sc)
Rnd 22: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 23: Sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in last sc, (11 sc)
Rnd 24: Sc in each sc around, join with a sl st in next sc. Leaving a length of yarn for sewing, fasten off.
Stuff tail (not too tightly) and sew to back of body, bend tail in an upward position.


Finishing: With a length of black yarn embroider eyes over muzzle. With a length of white yarn, stitch a highlight in each eye.

Weave in any remaining loose ends.
