Napkin Wedding Flowers

Napkin Wedding Flowers

Napkin wedding flowers are perfect for summer wedding ideas. Dana Willard's creation is a versatile idea for the budget conscious bride.

  • Dowels - any size your prefer. They're about $2 at Hobby Lobby. If you want to spray paint your wooden stems, check out the No-Sew Flowers Tutorial for details.
  • Party Napkins - I prefer using two sizes: medium and small. If you can't find small ones, simply trim the middle napkin down to a smaller size. All these colors were purchased at Hobby Lobby, $2-$3. Ikea also has nice paper napkins.
  • Scissors

  1.  We're only using two napkins here: one for the outside, one for the middle.
  2. Trim slightly around the folded edges so that each napkin layer is separate.
  3. Scallop the two outside edges of the smaller napkin (just freehand it; doesn't need to be perfect)
  4. Fold both napkins up together like an accordion or fan.

  5. Cut a semi-circle on both ends of the fan (this makes the outer napkin scalloped as well).
  6. Make a small cut in the middle of the flower but do not cut all the way through!
  7. Place a twist tie in the middle and twist it tightly closed.

  8. Place a dowel next to one side of the flower and hot-glue it in place (or you can simply twist the tie around it as well. It's not as secure for long-term use but works pretty well).
  9. Carefully pull the flower petals back and shape them as you'd like.

  10. You're done!

Loving these paper flowers. The yellow color is so cheerful. These are great for decor on each table at your wedding or bridal shower. I say grab a friend and a latte and make an afternoon for this fun and relatively easy paper craft. Thank you for all these hand made flower patterns and designs.

I remember making some flowers out of tissue paper I think in girl scouts when I was little but have not made any out of napkins. This looks like a good idea to use on tables for a wedding, baby shower or even for your own table and looks like they would be fun to make too. Great summer project for the kids or grandkids. I know it will be on my list.

that is rilly cute i woud have a lot of fun makeing that

So cute!! In grade school in the 60's we had colored facial tissue and we used them and bobbie pins to make the flowers. The would last for as long as our mother's would let us keep them.

What a great way for a bride to have beautiful flowers that are sensibly priced and they are made with her wedding napkins. She could keep them as a fond remembrance of the day. I think the idea would work for just about any feminine party.

I think these are really pretty and most people would never know they are made from the lowly napkin. Crafters would, but the average person wouln't know. Really pretty in the white and yellow.

This is a great gift idea for a hostess or for a bridal shower.

I love flowers This looks so cute Sharing this

So cute! I commented on another how I'm getting married soon and looking for alternatives to real flowers to save this idea! And it looks so simple!
