Teacup Pot Holder

Knit a pot holder with a colorful tea cup for a kitchen accent. This easy pot holder knitting pattern is a fun introduction to knitting with a color chart. Knit to match the Teacup Half Apron

Knit Teacup Pot Holder

  • Yarn: Lily® Sugar’n Cream (2.5 oz/70.9 g)

Main Color (MC): (White) 2 balls

Gauge: 10 sts and 15 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st with 3 strands of yarn.

Note: When working from chart, wind small balls of the colors to be used, one for each separate area of color in the design. Start new colors at appropriate points. To change colors, twist the two colors around each other where they meet, on WS, to avoid a hole.

With 3 strands of MC, cast on 19 sts.

Work a further 3 rows in seed st pat.

Next row: (RS). Seed st pat across 3 sts. K6. Inc 1 st in next st. K6. Seed st pat to end of row. 20 sts.
Next row: Pat 3 sts. P14. Pat to end of row.

Proceed as follows:

2nd row: With MC, work 3 sts in seed st pat. P2. Work 2nd row of Chart across next 10 sts in stocking st reading row from left to right. With MC, P2. Work 3 sts in seed st pat.
Chart is now in position. Work Chart to end of chart.

Next row: (RS). Pat 3 sts. K14. Pat to end of row.
Next row: (WS). Pat 3 sts. P6. Work 2tog. P6. Pat 3 sts. 19 sts.
Work 4 rows in seed st pat. Cast off in pat.

Loop: Cut 2 strands of MC 12 ins [30.5 cm] long.
Hold one end and with someone holding other end, twist strand to the right until it begins to curl. Fold the 2 ends tog and tie in a knot so they will not unravel.
The strands will now twist themselves tog. Adjust length if desired. Sew loop to corner of Pot Holder.
