I I have found this shawl here once again! I believe that a single crochet and a chain/skip sequence is also known as a granite stitch or moss stitch. Maybe the Cascade cotton yarns with all their pastel offerings would be a good replacement?

Stripes that are subtle and in muted tones are a great way to introduce some pattern and color into your wardrobe- especially if you are one of those women who are afraid of color. Wrap up in this at dusk on the beach while you're on vacation. Now, it does say that Bernat Bamboo in "Water" color is discontinued, and I don't know if there is another color similar to that. A pretty muted coral would look great, though.

Can you explain the instructions "Keeping cont of stripe pat (last 4 rows), rep last row for 15 ins."

Hi Hodson--thanks for your comment. This simply means that you're going to repeat the stripe pattern, made up of the last 4 rows, until your work measures 15 inches. Hope that helps!--FaveCrafts Editor

I need to make this in a larger size. can I just add ay number of stitches to the foundation chain or is this pattern using a certain multiple of something to keep in mind?

Here are the correct instructions from the Bernat website: 1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 210 sc. 2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last sc. 1 sc in last sc. Join B. Turn. 3rd and 4th rows: With B, ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp. Rep from * to last sc. 1 sc in last sc. Keeping cont of Stripe Pat (last 4 rows), rep last row for 15 ins [38 cm], ending with 1 row of A. Next row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st across. Fasten off.
