Rustic Recycled Keys Windchime

search

Turn your space into a rustic escape with only a few easy-to-find supplies. Primitive country crafts take you back to a different time and place, and this Rustic Recycled Keys Windchime certainly fits that bill. Gather up old keys and a stick from outside to get started. Use twine to bring the piece to life - it's that easy. Hang your windchime inside or out - it looks great everywhere.

Materials:

  • Stick
  • 6 keys (or as many as you want)
  • Paint
  • Foam brush
  • Scissors
  • Twine

Instructions:

  1. First you need to go outside in your backyard or local park, and find the stick you would like to use for your project. Then come in and paint it your favorite color.

  2. Gather some keys that you no longer use. Antique keys also look great!

  3. Cut pieces of twine to your desired length and tie one end to the stick and the other end to a key, you will do this for each key.

  4. Hang it up and you have a phenomenal DIY key windchime!

I agree with Princess, a little paint would add a cool splash of color though I do appreciate the simplicity of the version shown here.

You know what I would choose to do as well? I would actually paint the keys. I would paint the stick an opaque white and each of the keys I'd do a mint green, aqua, ocean blue, sea green, turquoise. I would use twine to hang, but add random glass beads tied in a knot along the length of the twine. Now we're talking! so pretty!

Simple idea, relatively simple to make, and totally delightful when finished - brilliant idea and I would bet that I am not the only one wondering why I did not think of it first. lol
