Materials:

  • Barrette blank
  • Pasta machine or rolling pin
  • Glossy sealer and small paint brush
  • Polymer clay

Instructions:

  1. To create cookie dough color: Three parts yellow polymer clay to one part each white, dark brown and orange. The foreground shows the dough color measured into six portions. You’ll need to make a larger batch to cover the barrette and make the cookies, so make double what you think you need. You’ll need to reserve a small ball of the dark brown for the chips.

  2. Roll out half the dough colored clay to about 1/8″. Cut a strip to go all the way around the barrette. Smooth it out to help the clay attach to the barrette.

  3. Wrap it all the way around and smooth the front. Slice the cookie dough and form the cookies by rolling each piece into a ball and flatten. Add as many tiny dark brown chips as you like pushing gently to attach.

  4. Line the cookies up and decide how you want them arranged. There are holes on the ends of the barrette, so push a tiny ball of clay over the holes on the underside of the barrette so it attaches to the bottom of the cookies on the end.

  5. If you’d like to take a “bite” out of a cookie, just use a needle tool to pull off small bits and shape the grooves. Bake according to the clay directions.
