Cozy Hooded Blanket

Who doesn't love feeling warm and toasty? Make a Cozy Hooded Blanket for your favorite little one. They'll cherish this easy crochet pattern.

Cozy Hooded Blanket
 

Materials:

  • RED HEART “ Moon & Stars: 8 Balls 3240 Buttercream
  • Crochet Hook 5mm [US H-8].
  • Yarn needle.

Instructions:

BLANKET

  1. Ch 104.
     
  2. Row 1 (Right Side): Dc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as 2 dc), dc in each ch across, turn – 102 dc.
     
  3. Row 2: Ch 2, Fpdc around each of next 2 dc, Bpdc around next dc, *Fpdc around each of next 3 dc, Bpdc around next dc; repeat from * to last 3 sts, Fpdc around each of next 2 dc, dc in top of turning ch, turn.
     
  4. Row 3: Ch 2, dc in next 2 Fpdc, *Fpdc around next Bpdc, dc in next 3 sts; repeat from * to last 3 sts; Fpdc around next Bpdc, dc in next 2 sts, dc in top of turning ch, turn.
     
  5. Row 4: Ch 2, Fpdc around each of next 2 dc, Bpdc around next Fpdc, *Fpdc around each of next 3 dc, Bpdc around next Fpdc; repeat from * to last 3 sts, Fpdc around each of next 2 sts, dc in top of turning ch, turn.
     
  6. Repeat Row 3 and 4 until 60 rows have been worked.
     
  7. Fasten off.

HOOD

  1. Ch 32.
     
  2. Row 1: Dc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as 2 dc), dc in each ch across, turn – 30 dc.
     
  3. Rows 2-3: Ch 2, *Fpdc around next dc, Bpdc around next dc; repeat from * across, dc in top of turning ch, turn.
     
  4. Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each dc, sc in top of turning ch, turn – 30 sc.
     
  5. Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
     
  6. Row 6: Ch 1, (sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc) across, turn – 24 sc.
     
  7. Rows 7-9: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
     
  8. Row 10: Ch 1, (sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc) across, turn – 18 sc.
     
  9. Rows 11-13: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
     
  10. Row 14: Ch 1, (sc in next sc, sc2tog over next 2 sc) across, turn – 12 sc.
     
  11. Rows 15-17: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
     
  12. Row 18: Ch 1, (sc2tog over next 2 sc) across, turn – 6 sc.
     
  13. Row 19: Ch 1, (sc2tog over next 2 sc) across – 3 sc.
     
  14. Fasten off.

FINISHING

  1. Sew Hood in place on one corner of Blanket.

Bear Ear (make 2)

  1. Ch 2.
     
  2. Round 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place marker for beginning of round.
     
  3. Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
     
  4. Round 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around – 18 sc.
     
  5. Rounds 4-6: Sc in each sc around.
     
  6. Round 7: (Sc2tog) around – 9 sc.
     
  7. Fasten off.

Notes:

  1. Blanket is 30” x 30”.

     
  2. GAUGE: 13½ sts = 4”; 8 rows = 4” in pattern stitch. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
     
  3. Special Abbreviations: sc2tog (sc dec): Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.
