Mother Earth is home to billions of people around the world. We need to help protect the environment by going "green." Show your support by crafting Earth day projects made from recycled materials.  You can use anything from bottles to old clothing that would normally be thrown away.  Let your creative efforts show that you care about our planet!  April 22 is Earth day, so make your green craft projects count by supporting this important day.

Earth Day Projects Using Bottles

Plastic Bottle Lid Art - Even plastic bottle lids can be recycled for fantastic art projects like this one. Turn the lids into a contemporary art canvas that's sophisticated but easy enough for kids to do!

Plastic Bottle Bird Feeder - Instead of sending more plastic to the landfill, turn a plastic bottle into a fun and functional birdfeeder crafted like a birdhouse. This is a great green craft for using the occasional plastic bottle.

Bottle Cap Crosses - Use bottle caps and family pictures to create Christian crosses full of reminders of what to be thankful for. These crosses are a great activity for Bible studies and families to make together. These crosses could also be an Easter craft.

Earth Day Projects Using Clothing

Recycled Sweater Throw Pillows - This eco-crafting idea uses recycled sweaters found at thrift stores or in the backs of closets to create cozy pillows. For the best results, look for sweaters with embellishments or great texture.

Turn Old Jeans into Pot Holders - Transform your old jeans into handy (har har har) pot holders. The jean pockets, already ready for slipping in your hands, make this sewing project a breeze.

Eco-Friendly T-Shirt - This eco-friendly T-shirt, painted with a cute leaf, instructs people to "Think Green." The message is important but still friendly.

Earth Day Projects Using Containers

Recycled Yogurt Cup Bud Vase - Turn an empty kids yogurt drink container into a bud vase, perfect for those teeny tiny wild flowers you and your child collect on long (or short) afternoon walks!

Daisy Container - Turn an old coffee container or oatmeal container into a lovely daisy container. This is great for holding anything you wish like kitchen utensils, gardening materials or even snack treats.

Oatmeal Box Pencil Holder - These containers look great, even though they are recycled materials. Match up peoples favorite hobbies, loves and likes with the pictures. Give as a gift filled with pencils or pens.

Earth Day Projects Using Cans

Recycled Tin Can Luminaries - Tin Can With a little creativity, tin cans become surprisingly elegant luminaries instead of trash.

Smashed Soda Can Animals - A smashed soda or aluminum can becomes a funny cow, pig or beer. This is fun activity and a great way to teach kids about recycling.
