Materials:
Note: 3 Reindeer Ornaments can be made with 1 ball each of MC, A and B.

  • 1 ball Lily® Sugar’n Cream Yarn in Jute (MC)
  • 1 ball Lily® Sugar’n Cream Yarn in Ecru (A)
  • 1 ball Lily® Sugar’n Cream Yarn in Red (B)
  • Size 3.5 mm (U.S. E or 4) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Stuffing
  • 2 safety eyes
  • Short length of ribbon for hanging loop

Gauge:  16 sc and 20 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

Instructions:
Measurement: Approx 3½ ins [9 cm] high (excluding antlers).

Head

With MC, ch 2.

  • 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. 6 sc.
     
  • 2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. 12 sc.
     
  • 3rd and 4th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • 5th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 18 sc.
     
  • 6th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • 7th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc.1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.
     
  • 8th rnd: As 6th rnd.
     
  • 9th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc.1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 30 sc.
     
  • 10th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc.1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 36 sc.
     
  • Insert safety eyes between 9th and 10th rnds, securing backs at WS of work according to manufacturers instructions.
     
  • 11th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • 12th rnd: Ch 1. *Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – sc2tog made. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 30 sc.
     
  • 13th rnd: Ch 1. *Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.
     
  • 14th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • 15th rnd: Ch 1. *Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 18 sc. Stuff head.
     
  • 16th rnd: Ch 1. *Sc2tog. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 12 sc.
     
  • 17th rnd: Ch 1. (Sc2tog) 6 times. Join with sl st to first sc. 6 sc. Fasten off. Draw yarn through rem sts. Pull tightly and fasten securely.

Antlers (Make 2)

With A, ch 8. Join with sl st to form ring.

  • 1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each ch around. Join with sl st to first sc. 8 sc.
     
  • 2nd to 5th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • 6th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 12 sc.
     
  • 7th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 3 sc. Ch 1. Miss next 6 sc. 1 sc in each of last 3 sc. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • 8th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 3 sc. 1 sc in next ch. 1 sc in each of last 3 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 7 sc.
     
  • 9th to 11th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • 12th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 2 sc. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of last 3 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 6 sc.
     
  • 13th rnd: Ch 1. (Sc2tog) 3 times. Join with sl st to first sc. 3 sc. Fasten off. Draw yarn through rem sts. Pull tightly and fasten securely.
     
  • Next rnd: Join yarn to first missed sc from 6th rnd. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. 1 sc in each of next 5 sc. 1 sc in rem loop of ch 1 from 7th rnd. Join with sl st to first sc. 7 sc.
     
  • Next rnd: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Sc2tog. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off. Draw yarn through rem sts. Pull tightly and fasten securely.
     
  • Stuff Antlers lightly.

Ears (Make 2)

With MC, ch 2.

  • **1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • 2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. 12 sc.** Fasten off.

Nose

With B, ch 2.

  • Work from ** to ** as given for Ears.
     
  • 3rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • Stuff Nose lightly.
     
  • 4th rnd: Ch 1. (Sc2tog) 6 times. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
  • Fasten off.

Finishing

  • Sew Antlers to sides of Head and Nose to bottom.
     
  • Pinch top of Ears to form fold and sew to Head beneath Antlers. Sew loop of ribbon to top of Head for hanging.

Oh I love these cute little Reindeer Ornaments. They would make great gift tags too. I can' see these on our tree and my son-in-law walking off with them. He loves deer more then I do. The pattern is well done and so easy to follow. Looking to make a few sets of 12 of these. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet reindeer ornament pattern.
