Size: 38” x 39”

Materials:

  • 570 yds. Light Blue Red Heart 4-ply yarn (B)
  • 445 yds. White Red Heart 4-ply yarn (W)
  • H and I crochet hooks or size needed for gauge

Gauge: With H hook - 8 dc – 2 ¼”
4 rows – 3”
 

Stitich Guide:

Chain (ch), Single Crochet (sc), Double Crochet (dc), Slip Stitich (sl st)

 
Row 1 – With blue ch 124, 2 dc in 5th ch from hook, 2 dc in next ch, *skip 2 ch, 2 dc in each of
next 2 ch, rep from * across ending skip 1 ch, dc in last ch, ch 3 and turn.
Row 2 – Skip 1 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, *skip 2 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, rep from *
across, dc in last dc, ch 3 and turn.
Row 3 – Rep Row 2, fasten off and turn.
Row 4 – Join white with a sl st in first dc, ch 2, skip 1 dc, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc, *skip 2 dc,
2 dc in each of next 2 dc, rep from * across, dc in last dc, ch 3 and turn.

 

Color Scheme:

Rep Row 2 as follows:
B 3 W 3 (8 times) B 3 (51 rows)

 
Edging:

With blue and I hook work along top edge (sl st, ch 2, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in first right corner dc, * ch 2, skip 1 dc, sc in next dc, ch 2, skip 1 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * across ending (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last dc.
Work along side edge ch 2, sc in first dc, *ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, sc in next dc, rep from * across ending (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in first ch of bottom edge.
Work along bottom edge *ch 2, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch, ch 2, skip 1 ch, 2 dc in next ch, rep from * across ending (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in last ch.
Work along side edge ch 2, sc in first dc, *ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, sc in next dc, rep from * across, join to beg sl st and fasten off.

Just finished my 1st one using this pattern, it was very easy, makes a beautiful baby afghan that looks like it was a lot harder than it was to make. My friend who asked me to make her son a blanket LOVES it. I had a better time making it only using one color, made it go a lot quicker and still looks great!

That name change problem seems to happen a lot. I also thought an icicle afghan might be interesting - not looking for a baby blanket. . . doesn't anyone check the links?

this says it is "Blue Bell" afghan BUT it is supposed to be "Icicle" afghan
