Baby Granny Three Ways

This is the epitome of a baby blanket - soft, fun and adorable. This simple crochet pattern makes a great gift. You'll want to make a Baby Granny Three Ways for anyone who is expecting.

Materials:
VERSION 1
- RED HEART "Soft Baby Steps": 1 Ball 9200 Baby Yellow A, 2 balls each 9620 Baby Green B and 9800 Baby Blue C.
- Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].
- Yarn needle.
VERSION 2
- TLC "Baby Amoré": 1 Skein each 9940 Baby Print B and 9256 Yellow A, 2 skeins 9552 Orchid C.
- Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].
- Yarn needle.
VERSION 3
- RED HEART "Baby Clouds": 1 Skein each 9311 Cloud A and 9628 Serene Green C, 2 skeins 9332 Sunny Multi B.
- Crochet Hook: 10mm [US N-15].
Instructions:
VERSION 1
- AFGHAN: Color Order: 4 rnds CB, [3 rnds CA, 3 rnds CC, 3 rnds CB] 3 times, 2 more rnds CB, 1 rnd CC. With CB, ch 4; join with a slip st in 4th ch from hook to form a ring.
- Rnd 1: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), [dc in ring, ch 1] 7 times; join with a slip st in 3rd ch of ch-4.
- Rnd 2: (Slip st, beginning corner) all in next ch-1 space, [2 dc in next ch-1 space, corner in next ch-1 space] 3 times, 2 dc in last ch-1 space; join in top of ch-3.
- Rnd 3: Slip st in next dc, ch 3, working behind ch just made, dc in same st as joining (beginning X-st made), * (X-st, ch 1, X-st) all in next ch-1 space, work X-st across; repeat from * around; join.
- Rnd 4: Slip st in space before next dc (in middle of X-st), ch 3, dc in same space, 2 dc in middle of next X-st, * corner in ch-1 space, 2 dc in middle of each X-st across; repeat from * around; join. Fasten off.
- Rnd 5: Join next color in any corner ch-1 space; beginning corner in same space, * working in back loops only, dc in each dc across **, corner in ch-1 space; repeat from * around, end at **; join.
- Rnds 6 and 7: Repeat Rnds 3 and 4.
- Rnds 8-31: Repeat Rnds 5-7 eight times. At end of Rnd 31, do not fasten off CB.
- Rnds 32 and 33: Ch 3, dc in each dc around and work corner in each corner ch-1 space; join – 130 dc between corner spaces. At end of Rnd 33, fasten off CB.
- Rnd 34: Join CC in any ch-1 corner space; ch 3, 6 dc in same space, * skip next dc, slip st in next dc, [skip next 3 dc, 7 dc in next dc, skip next 3 dc, slip st in next dc] 16 times **, 7 dc in ch-1 space; repeat from * around, end at **; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
VERSION 2
- AFGHAN-Rnds 1-28: Work same as Version 1 except work in both loops throughout. At end of Rnd 28, do NOT fasten off CC.
- Rnds 29 and 30: Ch 3, dc in each dc across sides and work corner in ch-1 spaces; join.
- Rnd 31: Work 1 rnd Reverse sc; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
VERSION 3
- AFGHAN: Color Order: [2 rnds each B, A, C] twice, 3 rnds B. Rnds 1 and 2: Work same as Version 1. Fasten off.
- Rnd 3: Join next color in any ch-1 space; beginning corner in same space, * dc in each dc across **, corner in ch-1 space; repeat from * around, end at **; join.
- Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next dc, * corner in ch-1 space, dc across next side; repeat from * around; join. Fasten off.
- Rnds 5-14: Repeat Rnds 3 and 4 five times. At end of Rnd 14, do not fasten off B.
- Rnd 15: Ch 3, dc in each dc to corner space, * corner in space, dc in each dc across; repeat from * around; join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Notes:
VERSION 1
- GAUGE: Rnds 1-4 = 4 1/2” x 4 1/2”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
- Afghan measures 36” x 36”.
- SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS: X-st (worked over next 2 sts) = Skip next dc, dc in next dc, working behind dc just completed, dc in skipped dc. X-st in ch-1 space = Dc in ch-1 space, working behind dc just completed, dc in same space. Beginning corner = (ch 3, dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in same space. Corner = (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) all in same space.
VERSION 2
- GAUGE: Rnds 1-4 = 5 1/2” x 5 1/2”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
- Afghan measures 38” x 38”.
VERSION 3
- GAUGE: Rnds 1-2 = 5” x 5”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
- Afghan measures 36” x 36”.
