Steps:

Girl's Shirt

  1. Prewash shirt to remove sizing. Do not use fabric softener.

  2. Cover work surface with Tulip® Surface Cover™. Lay damp shirt on prepared surface.

  3. Wearing plastic gloves, add water to only HALF of dye bottle. Replace cap tightly and shake until dye is dissolved.

  4. Remove cap from Red dye and replace with spray nozzle. Spray onto bottom of shirt until thoroughly saturated.

  5. Flip shirt over and spray bottom of shirt until fully saturated.

  6. Add water to second dye bottle to TWO-THIRDS (2/3) from top of bottle. Remove cap from dye and replace with spray nozzle. Spray onto center of shirt until thoroughly saturated.

  7. Flip shirt over and spray center of shirt until fully saturated.

  8. Remove spray nozzle and add water to bottle to the line at top of bottle to dilute color. Replace spray nozzle and spray diluted Red onto the top section of shirt.

  9. Flip the shirt over and spray the top section.

  10. Cover shirt with Surface Cover and let sit 4 to 6 hours. Wash in a large load of water with a small amount of laundry soap and dry in dryer.

  11. Once dry, place Fashion Form between layers of shirt.

  12. Enlarge houndstooth pattern to desired size, then transfer onto the dull side of freezer paper. Cut out the center of the pattern to create a stencil. Iron stencil (shiny side down) onto the base of the shirt.

  13. Shake bottle of Black Matte Soft Fabric Paint well. Squeeze onto a paper plate.

  14. Use flat end of makeup sponge to dab paint into stencil openings. Let dry then add a second coat if necessary.

  15. Let dry 15 minutes, then remove stencil. Let shirt dry completely.

  16. Wait 72 hours to wash. Machine wash warm on gentle cycle. Do not use harsh detergents or bleach. Remove promptly and line dry. To iron, turn garment inside out, being careful not to touch design with iron. Do not dry clean.
